Salary: £31,346 – £32,234
The advertised salary includes a supplement (JWC) to the base grade of the post. JWC supplements are conditional on the physical demands and /or working conditions of the role

This is an exciting opportunity to develop your career and work alongside experienced individuals who are passionate about vehicle maintenance and repair.
Our Transport Services Team and Mechanics maintain and repair vehicles and associated equipment to the required standards to ensure that the Council can meet its operational and other commitments, including all statutory requirements as defined under the Authority’s Operator’s Licence.
You will be responsible for managing a small team at the Skirsgill Vehicle Workshop in delivering the day to day activities of vehicle and plant maintenance; working to pre-defined schedules from the computerised Fleet Management system, as well as ordering associated parts and external services. This will include; delivering vehicle inspections, MOT preparation and presentation, vehicle repairs, the repair and maintenance of a wide range of Light and heavy vehicles (circa 131no), as well as items of small plant (circa 100 items).
You will also be responsible for managing the workshop staff’s Health, Safety and wellbeing together with general leave and absence in line with corporate procedures.
Who we are looking for:
The ideal candidate will have a City & Guilds NVQ level 3 or equivalent in vehicle maintenance and will have a proven track record of workshop supervision / management working in a busy multi-disciplined workshop environment. They will have a flexible approach including the ability to undertake out of hours call outs on a rota basis, as well as holding a minimum Category: C or D driving licence and DCPC qualification.
